This cartoon is my 250th cartoon. I’m actually pleased with the background for once.
I hesitated on doing this one. Unless you are involved or visit any large church you may not be aware of the changes over the last few years in some churches and their use of screens and multi-media in church services. While the church I work at uses those things sparingly the church I attend uses the heck out of media. Now on the other hand the churches I grew up in still will not use such fancy technology. If they don’t use the screens because they are afraid of the distraction it will cause I can assure you I was easily distracted without such things. I have spent many a sermon staring at various stained glass windows, studying each panel. I think the screens are a nice addition to church and can enhance some aspects of it. I nicely placed relevant video at the beginning of a sermon can really hit home. As an example his is a great video done by some of the guys that attend the same church as me. I think it’s powerful and worth a view.
I think folks can get carried away with trying to “entertain” at church but it can still be made to be connecting using technology or many of the tools modern churches use.
When I was a kid we used to go to a country church with no air, and I used to sit and watch the wasps bounce up and down on the ceiling. Things have surely come a long way since I was a kid.
