I'll bet it was hard gettin' around all day with your foot still in your mouth. You have to learn how to phrase things. You can tell a woman she looks like the first breath of Spring and she will love it.
You can tell her she looks like the end of a cold hard winter and you are in trouble.

Happy Birthday to your wife.

One other thing, when did we have to start knowing the meanin' of the words we use? I now have to go back and start proofreading everything.

HAHAHAHA! That's a man-compliment if I ever heard one. Good one, Barry!

and Happy Birthday to you, Cathy!! And how about those times when he makes you laugh, but not on purpose?

@qka: good catch! I'd be a terrible proofreader because my brain always fills in the correct word/spelling as I read. A bad habit that comes from interpreting my own typos.

OK, I will be totally honest. I read the cartoon and laughed so much that our older daughter came running to see what was so funny. That's what attracted me to you in the first place - you always know how to make me laugh ... and you're easy on the eyes, too! :-) Thanks for the birthday giggle!

complement - noun |ˈkämpləmənt|
1 a thing that completes or brings to perfection : the libretto proved a perfect complement to the music.
...

compliment - noun |ˈkämpləmənt|
a polite expression of praise or admiration : she paid me an enormous compliment..

While I am sure your wife is your perfect complement, what you gave her was a compliment. Even if she didn't take it as one.
