I Have Computer Experience

I Have Computer Experience

I’m just teasing my users again and this is not directed at anyone where I work currently. I do have to say I get nervous about anyone I’m going to work with on anything and they give me their IT pedigree.  I do know there are many experts out there, but when someone declares their experience I get nervous. A few months ago I got a complaint about a user interface on a website and the person told me “I have never seen a login screen like this and I’ve been working with computers for 20 years”. I was nice and tried to walk him through it even though it was not related to my current job. What I wanted to say was ” Really? You worked with webpages 20 years ago?”. This industry changes so often I really don’t care what someone did years ago. That said, all experience will help with future innovations but if you don’t stay current don’t tell me what you used to do. :) Have a nice day.

I’ve been using computers since they ran off kerosene but I still ain’t real sure what parameters are. I usually just back stuff up regularly and then go full speed ahead until I crash everything and then reformat the hard drive and start over.

I like to hide in the shadows for as long as possible. I may not be a master hacker, but I know just enough to accidentally cause tons of damage.

With great power comes great responsibility :)

  3. Debra Lambert says:

I, too, am a technology antiquarian…alas, I know enough to know that I know way too little…and the small amount of computer knowledge I acquired before the Ice Age is just enough to get me in immense trouble. Bless my IT staff, for they shall see my help desk tickets again and again…
